PAUL
BEREND

Chairman
BA, Dipl- Eng., DEA, MBA, GAICD

Paul is an explorer, mining entrepreneur, and corporate executive with a successful track record in developing and managing all aspects of natural resource projects. Founder and historical CEO of an offshore mineral explorer, Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd, focused on large scale mining of iron sands in New Zealand. He brought the company up to a valuation of over $100 million in 5 years by proving ~ 500MT @ 60% Fe of JORC compliant iron ore offshore resource, completing feasibility studies, and securing funding of capital from sophisticated corporate investors from the USA and China.

Paul is currently the Regional Director Australasia, Advisory Services at Hatch. Previously held a number of senior leadership and general management positions at Rio Tinto Iron Ore, ArcelorMittal, and Associate at McKinsey and Co. Paul also serves as a non-executive Director at Bluebird Mental Health Inc.

ANNA SLOBODA

Managing Director
MEc., EMBA, FCSA, GAICD

Anna is a mining entrepreneur and business leader with over 20 years of experience in operational management, financial planning, risk management, and investment advisory in a variety of industries and geographies. Anna is also a founding principal of Trans-Tasman Resources Ltd, where she was responsible for strategic planning and marketing of the company, securing strategic commercial agreements with Chinese steel mills.

Anna has previously held a number of senior financial roles in top tier international and Australian corporations, including Deloitte, Merck KGaA in Germany, Lehman Brothers in Luxembourg, Clough Ltd, and the Curtin University of Technology in Australia.

Anna is a non-executive Director of Elixir Energy Ltd (EXR), an emerging leader in gas exploration with projects in Mongolia. Anna is a passionate philanthropist and contributes to the community in her capacity of non-executive Director at Bluebird Mental Health Inc. as well as an Advisory Committee Member, Maritime Archeology, at the Western Australian Museum.

MELVIN YEO

Director
LLB (Hons) UWA, FFIN, GAICD, Grad Dipl Appl. Fin. and Inv.

Melvin is an experienced corporate lawyer and entrepreneur and previously held senior legal positions in Wesfarmers Limited and Australian law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth. He has co-founded other companies involved in mineral exploration in Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia, and Germany, and has advised clients operating in various countries in Africa, Latin America, Europe, UK, USA, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. Melvin brings his extensive knowledge of international mining and corporate law, environmental approvals processes in various jurisdictions to the Board.

Melvin is a member of the Murdoch University Art Board and is a former President of the WA Division of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association. He was also a Director on its national board and Chairman of its Finance, Audit & Risk Committee.

BORIS US

Director
Dipl- Eng, Dipl. Foreign Trade and Diplomacy

Boris is a career diplomat and expert in government relations with over 30 years of experience in trade development and operations, as well as trade diplomacy. During his career, he has held positions of Senior Engineer of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the USSR in Sri Lanka, Commercial Attaché of Trade Representation of the USSR in Burma, Deputy Head of Trade Representation of Russia in the Netherlands. For more than 7 years, Boris held senior executive roles and directorships in a number of Namibian companies, involved in mineral exploration in Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe.

Boris has vast experience in the management of government relationships in various jurisdictions and deep knowledge of the licensing and approvals processes for natural resource projects.

DARREN SMITH

Darren is an experienced senior executive with over 30 years of consulting experience to a range of industries with the focus on capital projects execution, value optimization, cost and delivery across the industries in Australia and South-East Asia. Prior to joining the Board, Darren was a Partner at PwC, leading a national team in Australia assisting the customers in the development and execution of the growth strategies, improvement of the operational performance and innovation, as well as held senior executive roles at GEM Consulting and Arthur D. Little.

Prior to his consulting career, Darren held senior industry roles in automotive and technology development companies.
